South Africa's Glass and Aluminium Industry Has a Documentation Problem.
We Built the Fix.
MA Glass - Matebese Aluminium & Glass Fit - is KwaZulu-Natal's documentation-first fabricator. We have operated from Plessislaer, KZN since 2008. We exist because the industry's standard quoting practice leaves homeowners, architects, and developers exposed - and we chose to build a process that closes that gap.
Most Glass and Aluminium Quotes Don't Show You What You're Actually Buying.
Here is what the industry's standard quoting habit looks like in practice:
The specification detail - glass grade, drainage requirement, wind-load allowance, coastal-finish suitability, warranty scope - lives in the installer's head. Not in a document you hold. Not in something you can question before your deposit is gone.
"The homeowner doesn't discover the gap at the quote stage. They discover it when the variation order arrives - after the deposit is gone."
This is not caused by dishonest installers. It is caused by an industry habit: letting buyers compare prices that look similar on paper but are not equal in what they specify, what they exclude, or what they protect.
MA Glass was built around one answer to that problem: make the specification visible, documented, and yours to hold - before fabrication begins.
That answer became the Coastal SpecLock™ Method. And the standard behind it is what this page is about.

A Fabricator the South African Government Has Assessed for Manufacturing Capacity - Twice.
MA Glass - formally registered as Matebese Aluminium & Glass Fit - fabricates and installs glass and aluminium systems from our facility on Old Main Road, Ithala Factory, Plessislaer, KwaZulu-Natal.
We have operated from this address, under this name, since 2008. In 17 years, we have completed work from R260,000 residential renovations to R3.65 million international hospitality installations.
On the DTIC recognition - and what it means operationally.
The Department of Trade, Industry and Competition assessed MA Glass under the Black Industrialist Programme and issued two separate funding grants: R4 million in October 2023 and R5.3 million in February 2025.

The Black Industrialist Programme assesses applicants for operational infrastructure, compliance standard, and manufacturing growth capacity - not simply business age or turnover. MA Glass received recognition on both criteria in two separate assessment cycles.
For a buyer evaluating fabricators: this is an independent, government-level assessment of how MA Glass operates. Not a marketing claim. A Parliamentary record.

What We Believe - And What It Means for How We Work.
The Coastal SpecLock™ Method is not a marketing invention. It is the formalisation of a standard we began building in our early years of operation - inconsistently at first, and then, once we understood what we were actually solving, consistently.
The belief behind it came from a simple observation: when a buyer cannot see what they are approving, they cannot protect themselves. And when a fabricator relies on verbal assumptions instead of written specifications, they are not protecting their client - they are exposing them. These are not abstract principles. They come from watching - over many years and many projects - what happens when they are absent.
We believe proof outperforms promises.
Every MA Glass installation produces a Completion File: site assessment record, itemised spec sheet, signed completion checklist, maintenance guide, and written warranty schedule. These documents belong to you. They exist before fabrication begins and after installation ends.
We believe a quote is not a specification.
A price without documented scope is an assumption waiting to become a dispute. Every MA Glass quote is itemised - inclusions, exclusions, and scope-change conditions in writing - before you approve anything.
We believe the buyer has the right to hold the documentation.
Our site assessment record, specification sheet, and warranty schedule are not internal files. They belong to you. You review them, question them, and sign off on them before a single panel is ordered.
We believe coastal conditions require coastal specifications.
KZN's humidity, salt exposure, and wind loads are not variables to manage after installation. They are parameters to document before fabrication begins. This is not optional on a coastal project. It is the standard.
We believe the cheaper quote is rarely the safer quote.
It is usually the quote that documents less. We do not compete on a lower price built on lower specification. We compete on certainty - and certainty requires documentation.

MA Glass Is the Right Fit for Some Projects.
We Want to Be Direct About That.
We are not the right choice for every buyer - and we say that because it protects your time and ours.
MA Glass is built for you if:
- •
You are managing a project above R260,000 where a specification error has real financial consequence.
- •
You want a documented specification - not a verbal assurance - before any fabrication begins.
- •
You are in a coastal or semi-coastal zone where hardware grade and glass specification affect long-term performance.
- •
You are an architect, QS, or project manager who needs a fabricator that works to your drawings and provides compliance documentation on request.
- •
You are a developer or hospitality operator who needs proven fabrication capacity at scale - with a documented project record to verify it.
- •
You need warranty terms in writing before installation starts - not to discover at the point of a claim.
✕ MA Glass may not be the right fit if:
- •
Your primary criterion is the lowest number on the page.
- •
Your timeline does not allow for a site assessment and documented specification before fabrication begins.
- •
You prefer to finalise scope detail verbally during installation rather than in writing before it.

The human behind the standard.
The Standard Was Built by a Person.
Here Is Who That Person Is.
I have watched too many homeowners discover what their quote actually included at the variation order stage. That is the moment the trust is gone - and by then, it is too late. That is why every MA Glass project begins with a document, not an assumption.
Matebese
Founder, MA Glass
MA Glass is not a faceless process. There is a person who built this standard, who holds it, and who you will hear from when something matters on your project. That human layer is what makes the documentation system work - because documents require people who believe in them.

The Assessment Is the First Step.
Not a Commitment.
The Coastal SpecLock™ Assessment is a site visit - approximately 60 minutes. It produces a documented site assessment record, an itemised specification, and the foundation of a quote built on what your project actually requires.
No deposit. No fabrication begins until you have reviewed and signed off the documented output.
The documentation belongs to you. Whether you proceed with MA Glass or not, you keep it.
"We have held one standard since 2008: make the specification visible, documented, and yours to hold before fabrication begins. That is what the Coastal SpecLock™ Assessment delivers - and what every project we complete begins with."
