Site Assessment in Progress

The Part of a Glass Quote That Causes the Most Problems
Is Not the Price.

It Is What the Price Does Not Show.

Hardware grade. Glass specification. Coastal-finish suitability. Warranty scope. These live in the installer's head. Not in a document you hold. Not in something you can question before your deposit is committed.

The Coastal SpecLock™ Assessment converts every one of those variables into a documented file - yours to hold, review, and approve before a single panel is ordered.

Get Your Specification in Writing
No deposit · No commitment · The documentation is yours to keep regardless of what you decide.

An on-site assessment - approximately 60 minutes. You receive a documented specification before any fabrication begins.

The SA Government assessed MA Glass's manufacturing capacity before committing R9.3 million. For you, that means your project is handled by a fabricator independently validated - not one working from a rented garage.

Here Is Where Every Glass and Aluminium Project Goes Wrong.

And It Is Never at the Installation Stage.

You did what you were supposed to do. You compared quotes. You asked around. You picked someone who seemed experienced. Then the variation order arrived - and your deposit was already gone.

The error was not made during installation. It was made at the quote stage - inside a document that showed you a total without showing you what that total assumed.

This is The Hidden-Spec Trap™. Not caused by dishonest installers. Caused by an industry habit: letting buyers approve prices that look similar on paper but are not equal in what they specify, what they exclude, or what they protect.
The Hidden Specification Tension

Three Specific Places the Risk Hides

01 - The Lump-Sum Quote

Your quote shows a total. It does not show the hardware grade, glass specification, drainage requirements, or coastal-finish suitability that total assumes. When any assumption is wrong, the invoice changes - after your deposit.

Cost of inaction:

The variation order for a hardware-grade correction on a mid-range KZN installation typically adds R15,000–R40,000 to a project that has already been approved and committed.

02 - The Missing Exclusions

Most quotes exclude items the homeowner assumes are included: waterproofing, structural adjustments, body-corporate compliance documentation, coastal-grade hardware upgrades. These are not on the front page. They are in fine print - or absent entirely - and are discovered when the extras invoice arrives.

Cost of inaction:

Discovered exclusions at a mid-project stage cannot be renegotiated. Your only options are to absorb the extra cost or halt the project - both of which damage far more than the original quote gap.

03 - The Warranty Nobody Read

Your installer mentioned a warranty. The terms - what it covers, what it excludes, which components it applies to, and how you actually claim - were not provided in writing before installation. You discover the exclusions at the exact moment you need the warranty to work.

Cost of inaction:

A coastal aluminium system with an undocumented or excluded hardware warranty can face corrosion repair costs that exceed the original installation price within 5–7 years of coastal exposure.

The Coastal SpecLock™ Assessment:
The Document That Changes What a Quote Means.

Most quotes are assumptions packaged as prices. The Coastal SpecLock™ Assessment is the opposite: a structured, on-site process that converts your project's variables into a documented specification that belongs to you - before fabrication begins, before your deposit is committed, before anyone assumes anything on your behalf.

MA Glass is KwaZulu-Natal's documentation-first fabricator. We have held one standard since 2008: make the specification visible, documented, and yours to hold before the first panel is ordered. This is not a marketing claim. It is the process that produced R7.9 million in documented, named, verifiable projects - from R260,000 residential renovations to a R3.65 million international hospitality installation.

Documentation Process

Your Path to a Specification That Is Yours to Hold.

Most installers treat their specification work as internal - a step you never see. At MA Glass, it becomes yours. Each of the five Coastal SpecLock™ pillars produces a tangible document you receive, review, and approve before fabrication begins.

5 Step Assessment Process

01 Coastal Fit Check™

What you receive: Site assessment record

Conditions, exposure notes, product suitability, risk flags, and site photographs. Site conditions are assessed and documented before any product is recommended - coastal, semi-coastal, or inland.

02 Spec Sheet Before Spend™

What you receive: Plain-English specification

Product, glass grade, hardware specification, inclusions, exclusions, and optional upgrades. In writing before you approve. Itemised scope you can read, question, and sign off - not a total with assumptions buried underneath.

03 Approval-Ready Pack™

What you receive: Project documentation

Prepared for HOA, body corporate, architect, or builder submission where required. Prepared by MA Glass - not left for you to source, compile, or chase on your own.

04 Quote Control Window™

What you receive: Itemised quote

Stated validity period and documented scope-change conditions. Price conditions that would change the quote documented upfront - no discovery at the variation-order stage.

05 Sign-Off & Care Handover™

What you receive: Handover documents

Completion checklist, maintenance guide specific to your installation, and written warranty schedule. Before MA Glass leaves the site. Warranty terms in writing - scope, exclusions, and claim process documented before we leave.

Every Product. Fabricated In-House.
Installed by Our Own Team.

MA Glass fabricates and installs six product categories - all from the same Plessislaer facility, all under the same Coastal SpecLock™ documentation standard. Your windows, doors, and balustrades are not sourced from a third party and assembled on-site. They are made to your exact opening specification before they leave our facility.

Fabrication and Product Suite

01 Aluminium Windows

A window is not a passive opening in a wall. It determines how light moves through your space, how temperature is managed, and how the exterior of your home or building presents to the world. A poorly fitted window rattles in the wind, lets in moisture, and degrades within a few seasons. Our aluminium windows are custom-fabricated to your exact opening specification - not bent to fit a standard size. The difference is structural precision and a seal that lasts.

Why Aluminium?

  • Stronger than timber at equivalent profiles - thinner frames, more glass area
  • Corrosion-resistant and maintenance-free - no warping, no rot, no repainting every two years
  • Thermally efficient when paired with the correct glazing specification for KZN's climate
  • Architecturally versatile - casement, awning, fixed, tilt-and-turn, and combination units
Applications:Residential renovations, new builds, sectional title upgrades, commercial offices, hospitality properties, schools, and industrial facilities.

02 Aluminium Doors

An entry door is the first statement your property makes. An interior door defines the spatial experience of moving through your home or workspace. Both need to function without fail, and look like they were made for exactly that opening. We fabricate aluminium doors in single-leaf, double-leaf, and transom configurations - for front entries, internal divisions, access-controlled commercial environments, and everything between.

What We Deliver:

  • Precision-fitted frames that close cleanly and seal correctly from day one
  • Hardware specification matched to your security and aesthetic requirements
  • Flush or framed design options - modern or architectural
  • Reinforced profiles for commercial and industrial applications requiring higher security ratings
Applications:Residential front entries, home offices, commercial offices, security access points, shopfronts, and industrial access doors.

03 Sliding & Folding Doors

There is a specific moment when a well-installed sliding door opens fully, and the indoor and outdoor spaces become one room. The light expands. The air moves. The architecture does exactly what the designer intended. That moment requires precision. A sliding door that hesitates, jumps its track, or fails to lock correctly is not a sliding door - it is a problem. Our sliding and folding systems are installed to the manufacturer's specification and load-tested before completion.

System Options:

  • Sliding doors - single and double track, standard and large-format openings
  • Bi-fold doors - 2 to 8 panel configurations, stacking left, right, or centred
  • Stacking door systems for wide commercial or entertainment area openings
  • Bottom-rolling and top-hung systems - selected based on structural and load requirements
Applications:Entertainment areas, open-plan living renovations, guest lodges, hotel rooms, residential upgrades, and commercial patios.

04 Glass Balustrades

A glass balustrade does two things simultaneously: it keeps people safe, and it disappears visually, preserving the sightlines that make a staircase, balcony, or elevated deck worth having. Every glass balustrade we install is engineered to the SANS 10400 building code for structural loading and safety. This is not optional - it is the standard that protects your family and meets the local building authority's requirements.

System Configurations:

  • Frameless glass - maximum visual clarity, minimal hardware visibility, premium finish
  • Semi-frameless - top rail with frameless panels, balance of aesthetics and cost
  • Framed aluminium channel - full structural system, commercial-grade specification
  • Pool surround balustrades - designed for wet-zone applications and compliance
Applications:Residential staircases, first-floor balconies, pool surrounds, elevated decks, commercial mezzanines, and hotel terraces.

05 Shopfront Systems

Your shopfront is your business's first advertisement. It communicates scale, quality, and permanence before a single customer walks through the door. A poorly specified shopfront - misaligned panels, warped frames, inconsistent sightlines - tells the market something you do not want it to know. We have delivered commercial shopfront systems on projects from R330,000 retail units to R3.65 million lodge fit-outs. The specification process is the same regardless of value: measured to millimetre accuracy, fabricated in-house, and installed by our own team.

Shopfront Capabilities:

  • Full aluminium curtain wall systems for multi-storey commercial facades
  • Single-storey retail frontages - with automatic or manual door systems
  • Structural glass frontages - frameless or minimal-frame design
  • Security-rated shopfronts for high-footfall or after-hours risk environments
  • Full strip-out and replacement - we remove the old system and dispose of it correctly
Applications:Retail stores, restaurants, hotels, lodges, office parks, banks, medical facilities, and educational institutions.

06 Custom Architectural Glass

When the project specification moves beyond standard product ranges - when the architect has designed something specific, when the structural requirement is unusual, when the aesthetic demands something that cannot be sourced from a catalogue - we work from the ground up. Our custom architectural glass capability has been applied to lodge developments, hospitality fitouts, and high-specification residential builds. Each project begins with an in-depth design consultation and ends with a fabricated, installed solution that matches the specification exactly.

Custom Capabilities:

  • Curtain wall systems - floor-to-ceiling glass facades with structural framing
  • Feature glass walls and partitions - interior architectural elements
  • Overhead glazing and skylights - with appropriate structural engineering input
  • Bespoke frame design - non-standard profiles, custom anodising, powder coat specification
  • Structural glass elements - laminated and toughened to project engineering specification
Applications:Architect-designed residential builds, boutique hotels, game lodges, corporate headquarters, statement commercial entries.

Every product category above begins with the same first step: a Coastal SpecLock™ Assessment. Whether you are replacing a single window or fitting out a multi-storey commercial facade, the specification is documented before fabrication begins.

Why Clients Who Have Compared Quotes Before
Choose MA Glass Next.

The standard industry quote is not dishonest. It is incomplete. Here is what both approaches look like on the same page.

The Standard Quote

The Coastal SpecLock™ Assessment

Lump-sum total - no itemised scope
Itemised specification - every component listed and signed off
Hardware grade assumed, not documented
Hardware grade specified to your site conditions, in writing
Exclusions in fine print or absent entirely
Exclusions explicitly listed before you approve anything
Warranty mentioned verbally
Written warranty schedule issued before installation ends
HOA/body corporate documentation: your problem
Approval-Ready Pack™ prepared as part of the process
Scope-change conditions surface at variation order
Price-change conditions documented upfront in the quote
Documents belong to the installer
Every document belongs to you - regardless of outcome
Most installers can say they offer quality materials and a warranty. Fewer will turn their specification process into a documented system you receive, review, and keep before you commit to anything.

Documented Real Results

The Variation Order Arrives After the Deposit.
This Is What Prevents It.

The Coastal SpecLock™ Assessment is a site visit. Approximately 60 minutes. It converts the assumptions every standard quote leaves unwritten into a documented specification - itemised, signed off, and yours to hold before fabrication begins.

What happens immediately after you book: MA Glass contacts you to confirm the on-site visit. You receive a documented site assessment record, an itemised specification, and the foundation of a quote built on what your project actually requires. No deposit is taken. No fabrication begins until you have reviewed and approved the documented output.

The documentation belongs to you. Whether you proceed with MA Glass or not, you keep every document the assessment produces. That is not a sales offer. That is the standard we have held since 2008.
